CWOT Raised Over $2,000 on Walk to End Alzheimers

Sunday, September 21st, CWOT participated in the Northeast Walk to End Alzheimers starting at 200 Brickstone Square,Andover, MA.
Following an invigorating warm up and an inspirational ceremony Chelmsford Women of Today members walked with family and friends through the streets of Andover choosing either the 1 mile or 3 mile route.

We will be holding our yearend banquet June 1st at 4pm. Menu includes vegetable lasagna and members are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. Please contact Candy to let her know you are planning on attending and what you would like to bring.

Lyme Disease, Prevention & Treatment

The general public is invited to a free Health and Wellness Seminar to be held May 29th at 7pm at the Adams Library. Dr. David Sidebottom, Director of Infectious Diseases at Lowell General Hospital will be presenting the latest research on Lyme Disease prevention and treatment. The Chelmsford Women of Today is co-sponsoring this event with Lowell General Hospital, Chelmsford Board of Health and the Chelmsford Public Library.

Dr. Sidebottom is currently the Director of Infectious Disease at Lowell General Hospital. He graduated Magna cum Laude from Duke University in Durham, NC, and received his M.D. at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. He was a Clinical and Research Fellow in Pediatric and Adult Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology at Children’s Hospital in Boston. He was an Instructor in Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and an Instructor in Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and has numerous research publications to his credit. Dr. Sidebottom is the recipient of several awards for Infectious Diseases research from the National Institutes of Health and his professional affiliations include:
Fellow, Infectious Diseases Society of America
Member, Massachusetts Infectious Diseases Society
Member, American Society for Microbiology
Member, Massachusetts Medical Society
Past President, Middlesex North Medical Society

Food Pantry Drive

Thank you to all that participated in the Food Drive.
The Chelmsford Women of Today sponsored their annual food drive at Market Basket, 288 Chelmsford Street, on Saturday, June 14th from 9 am to 3 pm to benefit the Chelmsford Community Exchange Food Pantry.

At the door, shoppers were given a suggested shopping list, asked to purchase as many items as they wish and then, simply drop the items off with our volunteers at the store exit. All items collected were delivered to the Food Pantry and any monetary donations collected were used to purchase Market Basket gift cards for the pantry.

4th Annual Bowlathon a GREAT SUCCESS!

We held our 4th Annual “Spare the Violence” Bowl-a-thon to promote domestic violence awareness on Sunday, March 30,2014 at Brunswick Bowling Lanes. It was an afternoon full of fun, pizza, prizes and drawings while raising funds for programs to end domestic violence and other local charities.

The Chelmsford Women of Today thank our sponsors of this years event: The Galleria Day Spa, Brunswick Zone, Bertucci, the Brickhouse Pizza, the British Beer Company, Chilis, Crosby’s Market, Donlan’s Market, the European, Frozurt, the Grill 110, Malas Motor’s, Moe’s, Panera Bread, Princeton Station, Rufina’s, Sal’s Pizza and Karen Giraud of Tastefully Simple.

“Spare the Violence” Bowl-a-thon

We will be holding our 4th Annual “Spare the Violence” Bowl-a-thon on Sunday, March 30, 2014 for Alternative House, other Domestic Violence Programs and various local Charities.

Our Bowl-a-thon will be held at Brunswick Bowling Lanes at 647 Pawtucket Blvd, Lowell, MA from Feedback
1:00-4:00pm. We would like to invite you and 4 of your friends or colleagues to enter a team in our Fundraiser.

It is easy to do and it’s a fun-filled afternoon while raising money for a very worthy cause. Registration is required, and should be mailed to CWOT Kathy Simmons, 4 Hart Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824. Each team is required to pay a registration fee of $70.00 ($14 per person) which includes 3 games of bowling and shoes for each of your 5 bowlers. A pitcher of soda and a pizza will be offered to each team. Click on the Registration form below. Each team member should read the Participants Letter attached below.

We then ask your team members to solicit a minimum of $50 per bowler or $250 per team in sponsorships. We prefer to work with flat rate pledges (example $5.00, $10.00, etc.). The day of the event you would then turn in your collected pledges and join the other teams for a fun and relaxing afternoon of bowling and prizes. Click on the Sponsor Form below.

Sign In will be from 12:30-1:00pm with bowling to begin at 1:00pm. We have lots of door prizes, prizes for the team raising the most in pledges and for the team with the highest series score. Individuals raising over $100.00 in sponsorships will be entered into a drawing for a special prizes!

Gingerbread House takes Blue Ribbon

Chelmsford Women of Today took the first prize blue ribbon for the gingerbread depiction of their Spare the Violence Bowl-a-thon in the 8th Annual Gingerbread Village sponsored by All Saints Church to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The Gingerbread Bowl-a-thon featuring two teams, The Flakes (Corn and Snow) vs. The Canes (Candy and Sugar) was one of 85 entries this year. The annual event raised several thousand dollars for Habitat for Humanity.

Thank you for your support of Muffins with Santa

The Chelmsford Women of Today hosted Muffins with Santa Dec 14th at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church by the Chelmsford center common. Admission ($4.00 per adult and $3 per child over 6 months) included an All-You-Can-Eat Continental Breakfast, various holiday craft projects, temporary tattoos, face painting and a special visit with Santa. Color photos with Santa for $5.00 were available to take home that morning and there were terrific raffle prizes. The event was held to benefit the Chelmsford Secret Santa Program and other community projects. We would like to thank our many sponsors and volunteers: Tufts, Whole Foods, Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Donlan’s, Market Basket, Crosby’s Market, Three Trolls, our photographer – Madeline Grant, our face painter – Sarah Williams, our high school student volunteers and our many local advertisers who purchased space on our placemats.
